Update and move to new site

I think its about time I did an update ! hehehehhe....

things have been very hectic and busy for me recently in work and education, so havent had much time to dedicate to the project and due to some technical problems we have been trying to sort out it has run past our previous estimates. but still workign hard on it.

On top of this I am also working on other things with a few friends which are closely related and not so related to this project and just as exciting and creative. So for this reason I will be closing down this site and merging in the game updates with the other projects on a joint website. It just makes sense, as you will be able to see that there is a lot more going on out there then just the game, and so much more to be done. This website backend is also ticking me off, it's very chunky and can be a pain to update, which puts me off posting updates, i kind of hate this site now. Also rather then post little bits of information on various web locations, which is what we are doing at the moment, it makes sense to have a collective effort with other like-minded people create a central archive allowing people to share knowledge and allow access to it more easily. I am hoping it will lead to more dialogue and communication for our community as well and encourage other people interested in creative projects.

On another note, As you know we have been using an old engine which has proved to be very dificult as it uses old tools and has a lot of limitations making it extremely painful to squeeze what we need out of it. At the beginning this project did start off very small and has grown considerably. I have recently been finishing my Masters Degree and part of it was related to Realtime Environment Engines, so it was a great opportunity to conduct some research for the game. I have been testing out some new graphics engines (trust me I have gone through so many!!) and I think I have finally found one that will work really well for this game. So we will be cutting the first part of the game short and releasing it as fast as we can so that we can start working with the new engine.

stay tuned and as soon as the new creative site is ready this site will forward straight to it. hopefully it will keep you going in-between updates.   Taran

JANUARY UPDATES

Ok I know its a bit late but here's the jan update. We had a problem with our admin computer so didn't have access to our emails or web admin. It`s still broken but we have setup our email and web access so its portable and can take it anywhere. So if you have emailed us be patient and we will reply to all emails.

Its been extremely busy last two months. I know everyone is waiting for the game but just up against it at the moment, I'm working two part time jobs, I am also working on a 4 month short term contract and I have a long term maintenance contract with another company. If that wasn't enough I am half way through doing a masters degree. I also have two little kids who need to play silly games with their dad. And that's what I'm doing when I'm not doing what I SHOULD be doing, which is working on the Game! at the moment I am down to spending at most half a day a week on the game which isn`t enough and progress is very slow.

I keep telling myself I need to calm down and not take so much on, but then that would be boring wouldn't it. I know a lot of people are complaining about the game taking so long but this is a learnign process for all of us and we want it to be fun and productive. We dont want to end up hating the process so its important that the project doesnt take over the teams other responsibilities.

Anyway we have made some progress on getting the online side of the game setup for multipayer deathmatch. We have an internal server setup on our main machine which can at most handle about 8-10 users, which will be enough for testing purposes. We are looking into renting a permanent online server to handle high volumes of users.

Here are some background characters created by jeevan and some additional environment models coming soon.

Will be posting up some videos of the online multiplayer games very soon

OCTOBER / NOVEMBER UPDATES

Sorry for not posting an update last month AS was in between jobs so was very busy looking for a new one. The good news is that I am starting a new job tomorrow, and hopefully it will enable me to spend more time on the game project.

WE havent got much to show you this month but loads of developments. We have been working on the first two level of the game and are hoping to release them around March/April time depending on how the testing goes. I know its later then we expected but everyone has been sooo soo busy and we only get to spend around 1 day each week on the project due to other comittments.

First level will be a training level and the second level will throw you straight into the action, nuff said !. will post some screenshots of how the levels are looking next week.

WE also wanted to celebrate teh fact that teh new Unreal engien has been released alongside the release of "Unreal Tournament 3". This means that we have already started to research and devlop new ideas using the new engine. It is considerably more powerful then the current engine we are using. The Unreal 3 Engine is the fourth version of the engine we are using for Sarbloh Warriors. We are currently learning the new angine and are hoping to move onto this engine in the near future.
